President Vizcarra: Peru is entering a new phase

13:31 | Lima, Oct. 8.

President Martin Vizcarra on Tuesday affirmed that Peru is reshaping its future towards the celebration of the country's Independence Bicentennial on July 28, 2021.

In his speech, during a ceremony marking the 198th anniversary of Peruvian Navy and the 140th anniversary of Naval Battle of Angamos, the statesman noted that the Inca country has been tested one more time by a crisis, but this one was resolved through democratic and institutional means.

"Peru is reshaping its future prior to the Bicentennial of our Independence. It is entering a new phase, where respect for institutions, dialogue, transparency and general welfare must prevail," he said.

"We have to leave polarization and obstruction behind, which only lead to underdevelopment and backwardness," the top official pointed out.

In this sense, he noted his administration will continue working to achieve the major objectives of progress and development that will result in a better quality of life for all, the same way they did to resolve the institutional crisis.

"Our greatest strengths are our faith, our love for Peru, our democratic spirit, and our commitment to the rule of law," he added.
