Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra took part in a commemoration ceremony marking the 198th anniversary of Peruvian Navy and the 140th anniversary of Naval Battle of Angamos at Plaza Grau Square in Callao.
The Head of State was accompanied by Defense Minister Walter Martos Ruiz, Navy Commander General Fernando Cerdan, among other military and police authorities.
Also attending were state ministers and senior military figures such as Head of the Joint Command of the Armed Forces Cesar Astudillo, as well as commanders general Jorge Celis (Army) and Rodolfo Garcia (Air Force).
Held during the War of the Pacific, the heroic 1879 battle took Peruvian navy officer Miguel Grau to glory.
