According to De Zela, Trump also underlined the signing of the Peru-U.S. Free Trade Agreement, which has enabled a significant increase of bilateral trade during the last decade since its entry into force in February 2009.

Likewise, the North American Head of State underlined the Inca country's leadership in the Lima Group, as well as the efforts it has undertaken concerning Venezuelan migration.

Furthermore, the ambassador mentioned Peru receives the cooperation of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) for Venezuela's case.

"We are still at the beginning of talks to see if there can be a direct support from the United States, as our country is one of the most affected by the migrations affair," he told RPP radio and TV station.
