U.S. President Donald Trump highlighted the solid friendship ties between Peru and his country, which are based on the
common defense of democracy, free trade, and
rule of law, Peruvian Ambassador to the United States Hugo de Zela affirmed Wednesday.
According to De Zela, Trump also underlined the signing of the
Peru-U.S. Free Trade Agreement, which has enabled a significant increase of bilateral trade during the last decade since its entry into force in February 2009.
Likewise, the North American Head of State underlined the Inca country's leadership in the Lima Group, as well as the efforts it has undertaken concerning Venezuelan migration.
"We are still at the beginning of talks to see if there can be a direct support from the United States, as our country is one of the
most affected by the migrations affair," he told RPP radio and TV station.
