Peru’s President Alan Garcia said Thursday that the official visit of his Brazilian counterpart Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva will strengthen the energy alliance between Peru and Brazil, for the benefit of the two countries.

"We have to bring energy alliance issue to an end. Such cooperation will allow us to use their investment and machines to generate electricity from the rivers into the Amazonian watershed, benefiting Peru and Brazil as well," he said.

In statements to the press after attending the opening ceremony of the expansion works of Camones Textile Plant, located in the district of Puente Piedra, Garcia Perez also said the visit of Lula da Silva will allow us to bring other issues to an end, such as those relating to the Inter-Oceanic Highway.

His official visit may also help to solve sanitary problems, so Peruvian products can directly enter the Brazilian market.

During Lula’s stay in Peru, Petrobras’ presence in the country will be strengthened to establish a petrochemical center through the South Andean Pipeline.
