President Keiko Fujimori Higuchi stated today that the government is unblocking projects that are fundamental for policyholders and the general public, as she presided over the commencement of works to put into operation the EsSalud Torre Trecca (Trecca Tower) in Lima.
The head of state noted that, after a 50-year wait—and through collaboration with the private sector—the Torre Trecca project will be delivered to the public within the next 18 months. It is set to become a benchmark in Latin America, both for its capacity and the quality of care provided by its medical staff.

"There are several points to reflect on here. First, there is the message of unity we are sending. This represents a joint effort by the government, various institutions, Minister Juan Sheput, Dr. Zulema Tomas (President of EsSalud), and ProInversión—all of whom identified the bottlenecks and made the political decision to ensure this project moves forward," the President stated.
The President also highlighted the collaborative work with the private sector.
"The private sector is the engine of our economy, accounting for 80% of it. That is why a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) is significant to me; it ensures efficiency, rapid delivery, zero corruption, and high quality. I ask the engineers to invite me back in 18 months to officially launch this building," she remarked.

Furthermore, the head of state emphasized that the "heart and soul" of the Torre Trecca will be its doctors, nurses, and technicians, whose professional and humane approach will define the care provided to 1.4 million public insured individuals in the initial years—a figure expected to grow over time.
"This building will become a landmark in Latin America—not only due to the capacity for care we will provide, but also because of the humane, compassionate treatment you will offer, and the number of lives we will be able to save," the leader emphasized.
She also urged the press to get involved, follow the progress, and report on the work being carried out, so that the Peruvian people remain well-informed.
"We will return to inaugurate this facility—which, for now, is merely cement and steel, but in a few months will become a symbol of life and health," added President Fujimori.
With an investment exceeding 486 million soles ($140.33 million), the Essalud "Torre Trecca" (Trecca Tower) will be rehabilitated, featuring over 100 medical consultation rooms and 300 pieces of state-of-the-art clinical equipment, for the benefit of public insured individuals in Lima and Callao.
