President Jose Jeri Ore supervised the food preparation and distribution of school breakfasts to children at the Bella Aurora Initial Education Institution No. 585 in Puente Piedra, as part of a school food program implemented in various schools in Lima and Callao.

The President was accompanied by the Minister of Development and Social Inclusion, Lesly Shica Seguil.

The activity aimed to simultaneously supervise the proper preparation, serving, and consumption of the School Food Service (SAE) in public educational institutions, with the objective of verifying the quality and safety of the food provided, as part of a menu designed to nourish and motivate students.

Regarding this program, President Jose Jeri stated that it is important to strengthen support programs in order to avoid past mistakes in monitoring and supervision.

“This has to be one of the fundamental pillars in order to make possible this program to function and at the same time be responsible for our children”, said President Jeri.

Meanwhile, Minister Lesly Shica highlighted the actions taken to guarantee food for more than 4 million schoolchildren in the country.

“This marks a true restructuring of the School Feeding Program. Today we are with President Jose Jeri to tell the public that we all eat the same food. That what is available in the markets goes directly to our children. Having our president taste the food is the best guarantee that we are working to provide quality food,” the minister stated.

“Today we say no more to shell companies that have been created and that at some point have harmed the health of our children. We will continue with these operations, which are a hallmark of our president. In this way, we are in constant communication and direct contact with the population,” added the minister, after tasting the chicken stew and maca with milk that was prepared for the students who, at the time of the visit, had not yet arrived at the school.

With these actions, the Government seeks to guarantee that school meals are equally healthy, safe, and nutritious for every student in the country, and that not a single sol is lost to corruption.

At this school in Puente Piedra, breakfast is provided to 322 students in early childhood education.

Simultaneously, the entire Cabinet inspected schools located in districts such as Pachacamac, Callao, Ventanilla, San Juan de Lurigancho, Los Olivos, Independencia, Santa Anita, Villa El Salvador, and Santa Rosa de Quives, among others.

Quality school meals for all

These operations aim to guarantee the same quality of school meals for more than 4 million students nationwide, regardless of location. Diverse, healthy, and relevant menus that are actually consumed and motivate learning.

During the event, it was announced that the new director of the School Feeding Program (PAE) for 2026 will be a renowned nutritionist and former dean of the Peruvian College of Nutritionists, Saby Mauricio.

Furthermore, emphasis was placed on the need to ensure that every sol invested by the State in school meals translates into safe and reliable food for our children and adolescents.

As part of the actions planned by the Executive Branch regarding school meals, visits to kitchens, classrooms, and production facilities will be intensified to detect and correct process failures in a timely manner. The participation of the educational community in oversight will be strengthened, and preventive, visible supervision with the capacity to impose sanctions will be prioritized.

Breakfasts

The "Breakfast at My School" pilot program is being implemented in the schools visited, serving 23,497 students in 92 schools. The pilot program offers a hot, nutritious, healthy, and high-quality breakfast.

Each breakfast consists of a beverage (ideally made with Andean grains), a side dish, and a piece of fresh fruit. To ensure safety, strict sanitary and technical standards are applied, with constant monitoring from storage to consumption.
