PM: Peru, one of countries signing most COVID-19 vaccine acquisition contracts in region

Peru is one of the countries that registers most contracts for the purchase of vaccines against COVID-19 in Latin America. In fact, it has secured more than 61,000,000 doses to continue strengthening the immunization process, Prime Minister Violeta Bermudez reported on Wednesday.

Within this framework, the Cabinet chief stated that the immunization process in the national territory is moving forward steadily, since 2,777,648 vaccines have been administered to date.

Of this amount, 1,940,562 have been administered as the first dose, whereas 837,086 as the second dose.


Concerning the pandemic in Peru, the high-ranking official said that infections are still decreasing. However, a slight increase in the number of deaths was recorded the last week.

Remarks were made during a press conference held at the Government Palace in Lima.
