Piura region coffee wins prize in U.S.

Peruvian coffee from San Miguel del Faique district in northern Piura region won the Best Coffee in the World Award in the 7th Taste of Peru fair held at the University of the District of Columbia (UDC) on June 1-4.

The Inca country's product was recognized as the best, as it complies with quality standards. 

Likewise, this coffee pleased the demanding palates of tasters from the United States, Canada, Sweden, Germany, and Saudi Arabia. 


The award was received by San Miguel de Faique district Mayor Jose Antonio Huaman, who indicated this prize recognizes the work of farmers and the quality of Piura region's coffee, which will gain access to international markets. 

Mayors from Huancavelica, Junin, Piura, Puno, and Madre de Dios regions were present as well. 

Taste of Peru - Washington D.C. is an annual gastronomical event in D.C. that celebrates the cultural influences and the creativity of Peruvian chefs in the United States.

The event promotes the unique culinary perspectives of local and international chefs.
