Peru's national team supporters have won the best fans category at the 2018 Best FIFA Football Awards.
Despite the team's first two defeats in the mega event, the Inca country citizens' support for their
national squad remained intact, both in the homeland and overseas.
Japan and Senegal supporters —who cleaned up the stadiums after their teams' games— and Sebastian Carrera —a Chilean fan who had traveled 1,500 km to cheer on Puerto Montt— were the other nominees.
Peruvian participation at World Cup
The national squad lost its first two matches against
Denmark (0-1) and
France (0-1), thus becoming the fourth team to depart from this event.
