Peruvian Pride! Ancash named World's Best Adventure Destination at TOURISE 2025 Awards

The natural, cultural, and tourism richness of Peru's Ancash region was honored in Saudi Arabia with the TOURISE Award for Best Adventure Destination 2025, an international distinction that recognizes the world's most outstanding destinations, the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur) highlighted.

The award was presented to Deputy Tourism Minister Aracelly Laca during a ceremony held within the framework of the 26th UN Tourism General Assembly. The event brings together leading figures and authorities from the global tourism sector.


It was attended by Saudi Arabia's Tourism Minister, Ahmed Bin Aqeel Al-Khateeb, and Deputy International Affairs Minister, Her Highness Princess Sara Al Saud, among other distinguished authorities from the global tourism sector.

During the ceremony, Deputy Minister Laca expressed her gratitude for the recognition, which places Ancash among the world's leading adventure destinations.

"I receive this prestigious recognition with immense gratitude, on behalf of the Government of Peru and the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism, which honors Ancash as the Best Adventure Destination of 2025," Laca expressed.

"It is an honor to share with you the essence of a region that embodies Peru's untamed and diverse spirit," she pointed out.


Likewise, the government official emphasized that this award symbolizes the joint effort of the region's communities and entrepreneurs.

"This award is not only a recognition of Ancash's natural beauty, but also of the commitment of its communities, guides, entrepreneurs, and authorities, who work to make tourism a tool for sustainable and inclusive development," she highlighted.

As a reminder, the TOURISE Award is an initiative of the Ministry of Tourism and the Saudi Tourism Authority, with support from the private sector, aiming to establish itself as the world’s leading platform dedicated to recognizing destinations and projects that drive a new horizon for global tourism.

Mincetur emphasized that this international recognition consolidates Peru's position as a leading adventure tourism destination. It also reaffirms its commitment to promoting sustainable tourism that preserves nature, empowers local communities, and generates inclusive economic development.

Participation in the UN Tourism General Assembly

During her participation in the General Assembly, Deputy Minister Laca took part in various sessions focused on sustainability, innovation, and international cooperation.

Furthermore, the government official held bilateral meetings with international authorities. These were aimed at strengthening technical cooperation and promoting new opportunities for investment and training to benefit Peruvian tourism.

On the Assembly's final day, the Peruvian representative held meetings with her counterparts from Greece, Ecuador, and Indonesia, as well as with executives from the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF).

Moreover, Laca assumed the role of one of the representatives of the Americas region on the UN Tourism Executive Council, as well as the Chair of the Program and Budget Committee of the same Executive Council,

She also participated as a keynote speaker in the high-level debate "Transforming Tourism through Artificial Intelligence," held within the framework of the 26th UN Tourism General Assembly, among other important official activities.
