The Government's health strategy and the collaboration of citizens to comply with biosafety measures has led to a clear and sustained decline in the curve of deaths from COVID-19 over recent weeks in Peru, President Martin Vizcarra highlighted on Wednesday.

In this regard, the Head of State said that —during the last week of August— 4,162 people died. The amount is less than that recorded in the first week of the same month (6,767).

"We must continue working; the virus has not gone away; we must continue acting responsibly for this downward trend to remain in place. No one is going to act in a triumphalist manner, neither you nor us," he stressed.
