The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Wednesday affirmed that the priorities set by regional governors —for the development of their peoples— will be included in the Government's general policy, which the Ministerial Cabinet will present before Congress.

After reiterating his administration's commitment to decentralization, the Head of State asked Prime Minister Anibal Torres to prioritize the agenda of regional authorities, so that it can be supported before Parliament.

The top official pointed out that the designation of Anibal Torres as Prime Minister of Peru will strengthen the fight against citizen insecurity, including various measures such as more severe sanctions against repeat offenders, for which legal amendments are required.

In this regard, the President asked regional governors to make proposals in this area, based on their experience.

Moreover, the Head of State proposed that regional authorities establish a collaborative work methodology to overcome centralism, which is still present in the public administration, with parallel organizations experiencing delays when preparing the budgets for regions.

"We have a plan that envisages between 700 and 800 bridges, which has been developed with the Ministry of Transportation and Communications (MTC) for the benefit of those peoples that are isolated; it would be a good idea to make it a priority," Mr. Castillo remarked.

"For example, I propose meetings between ministers and regional directors in order to prioritize public works, as well as to prepare a work agenda including dates, commitments, and responsibilities," he added.
