The President of the Republic Martin Vizcarra on Sunday inaugurated the new Villa EsSalud (Social Health Insurance System-EsSalud Village), located in Cerro Colorado district (Arequipa region).

The health facility has been equipped with 100 beds —including nine for intensive care— to treat COVID-19 patients.

According to the Head of State, the EsSalud Village increases the supply of hospital care and the health response in Arequipa region.

He also explained that 100 beds have been made available at Goyeneche Hospital, 200 at Honorio Delgado Hospital and 200 at Cerro Juli Hospital, in addition to the beds accommodated at the Bar Association.

Moreover, the statesman reported that 150 people have been hired to take care of patients infected with COVID-19.

It must be noted that the southern region of Arequipa has been placed under mandatory localized quarantine until August 31 in order to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus.
