Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra affirmed that he has always acted honestly and transparently. Besides, he confirmed that his Government has clear objectives in the fight against corruption.
In an interview with Cuarto Poder TV show on Sunday night, he absolutely denied the delivery of alleged bribes for the construction of a hospital in Moquegua region.
"There can be no intermediaries in a process that did not exist ... I have worked honestly and transparently," he expressed.
Commenting on the decision of Prosecution German Juarez to open a preliminary investigation against him, the Peruvian leader reaffirmed that his Government respects the independence of powers.
"We respect the independence of powers, and we abide by what the Public Ministry says," he underlined.
The Head of State remarked that no money was delivered and that no crime was committed for the construction of a hospital in Moquegua region.
"It is absolutely false. No money has been delivered. The project's sole objective was to have a new hospital in Moquegua after 50 years of operation of the old one, which collapsed as a result of the earthquake that hit southern Peru in 2001," he stated.
On the other hand, the President claimed that he does not recognize the photo spread by a newspaper of national circulation, in which he is seen with Antonio Camayo —a businessman linked to the Port's White Collars case.
He said that he does not know him, that he has not met with him, that he does not identify the photo, and that he has no friendly or political relationship with the businessman.
"The photo needs to be verified. My weight fluctuates between 3 to 4 kilograms. I have never gained 20 kilograms as shown in the photo. I do not recognize that picture ... what is absolutely clear is that I have never had a friendly, political or economic relationship with Mr. Camayo, at all," he affirmed.
Mr. Vizcarra noted that Camayo himself also said that he does not know the Head of State in his statement to the prosecutor.
