Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra affirmed that health figures are improving hand in hand with the economy, which suggests economic goals will be met by the end of the year.

"Health figures improve hand in hand with economic ones, as reflected in August results. They are even better than those projected by the Ministry of Economy and Finance," he said.

It should be noted that the President, as well as Culture and Foreign Trade-Tourism ministers, participated in the launch of "Volver" (Return), a campaign to raise citizens' awareness about the reactivation of tourism in a gradual, responsible, and sustainable manner.

"Peruvians must begin by visiting their country and its wonders. Let us support this campaign and reconnect with our history and culture, but also with our society and ourselves, so as to achieve progress and development in the country," he emphasized.

The President noted that one of the activities most hard-hit by the pandemic was tourism. "We have to reactivate this sector and the economy, but in a sustainable way, taking safe steps to make it constant and permanent."

"We created the Business Support Fund for micro and small-sized enterprises (MSEs) in the tourism sector with the aim of supporting companies and minimizing the effects of the pandemic," he added.

Remarks were made on Saturday during the launch of the above-mentioned campaign Volver, led by Mincetur, through the Exports and Tourism Promotion Board (PromPeru).
