| Lima, Mar. 13.
The
President of the Republic Francisco Sagasti
reported that his administration is negotiating the purchase of 16 million COVID-19 vaccines,
in addition to the 48 million that are currently under agreements.
In an interview with ATV Noticias, the Head of State projected that —if these conversations held with various entities come to fruition—
"we would have everything we need."
"We are in very advanced negotiations with Gamaleya, Sinovac, and other laboratories," he explained.
As for China's Sinopharm,
the top official indicated that the deal for 37 million doses will be completed once this Chinese laboratory delivers the necessary documents regarding the effectiveness of the vaccine
, which must be presented to the
World Health Organization (WHO).
In this sense, the statesman said the Peruvian State has been informed that such delivery will take place approximately on March 15.
The Peruvian leader also reported that 167,500 doses have been so far received from the Pfizer laboratory
, adding that
"every week in March we will receive 50,000 doses, plus 200,000 weekly doses in April."
Between April and May, Peru will rely on 1.296 million doses from AstraZeneca, he projected.
