assured that Peru continues with negotiations for the acquisition of vaccines against COVID-19, which if materialized, would guarantee a total exceeding 80 million doses.
Peru is also negotiating with the Johnson & Johnson company for the purchase of 5 million single-dose vaccines.
In both cases, Ambassador Wagner pointed out that the negotiations are "quite advanced."
Another ongoing negotiation is that with the Brazil-headquartered Butantan Institute —which produces the Sinovac vaccine— for 7 million doses, while talks have begun with Moderna laboratory with an offer consisting of 12 million doses.
"If the negotiations come to fruition, as the Government expects, these would lead to exceeding 80 million doses for this year. Thus, the need for vaccines to immunize the population would be fully covered," he indicated.
