Peruvian President Francisco Sagasti on Wednesday reiterated that the first batch of COVAX Facility vaccines is slated to arrive in the first quarter of next year.
"Peru has paid a first installment, and some suppliers participating in the COVAX Facility may deliver a first batch in the first quarter," he told Exitosa radio station.
Similarly, the President underlined that Peru continues negotiating with three to five COVID-19 vaccine suppliers and once an agreement and date have been confirmed, this will be made known.
Getting the vaccines —he added— is just the first step, since the process includes logistical work for reception, transport, refrigeration —among others— of the vaccines.
Moreover, Mr. Sagasti highlighted that
Health Minister Pilar Mazzetti has extensive knowledge and experience, which allows capitalizing on mistakes and the entire process against COVID-19.
What was lacking before —he said— was a course, direction, orientation, and a joint work with all ministers, which is being done now.
