Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra on Sunday highlighted the population's responsible attitude during the national vaccination campaign carried out throughout the country by the Ministry of Health (Minsa).

"Yesterday's goal was to vaccinate 74,000, and the number is around 120,000, which shows the responsibility of the population," the statesman said.

"People have been immunized against 26 diseases with 17 vaccines that were missed during the pandemic," he added.

Supervising the vaccination campaign —on its second day— in Lima's El Agustino district, Mr. Vizcarra explained that there had been a delay in the vaccination schedule due to the coronavirus outbreak, which is dangerous.

In this regard, he noted that vaccination campaigns will be promoted on weekends until December, and that there are enough vaccines to immunize the population.

"We will protect people if we get vaccinated. If we observe measures like social distancing, use of masks, and hand hygiene responsibly, we will defeat the virus," he pointed out.

Moreover, the President asked the population to be careful when the weather gets warmer, because this motivates people to go to the beach, where large crowds can gather, thereby affecting the fight against the pandemic.
