Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra has categorically denied being involved in acts of corruption in respect of the Lomas de Ilo project when he was Moquegua Region Governor, as claimed by an aspiring effective collaborator.

"I categorically deny it, absolutely. At least one piece of evidence," he said this morning when asked about the project carried out by Obrainsa in 2013.

"We can explain this topic in detail, but (there were not) acts of corruption, at all, I categorically deny it," the President said while supervising the implementation of the National Vaccination Campaign in Lima's El Agustino district.

The Head of State believes it is not a coincidence that such statement came out after he expressed surprise about the fact that the investigation of corruption cases related to Odebrecht was taking so long.

"Isn't it strange that these types of headlines come after I mention Odebrecht or when I talk about fighting corruption? (…)," he commented.

In this regard, Mr. Vizcarra affirmed clearly and categorically that, since he took office, his administration has fought corruption in all the actions it has taken and has acted in a correct, clean, and transparent manner, affecting great interests.

Moreover, he believes that someone is trying to intimidate and oust him from the Presidency of the Republic.
