Peru's President: Cabinet working to fulfill people's mandate

21:14 | Lima, Nov. 5.

The President of the Republic Pedro Castillo on Friday acknowledged the democratic work done in Congress —which has granted the vote of confidence to the Ministerial Cabinet— and noted that the country has a team of ministers who are working to ensure that Peruvians will not lack food, health or education.

At the launch of the Single Registration System for Community Kitchens 'Mankachay Peru' in Lima's San Juan de Lurigancho district, the Head of State emphasized that it is their duty to serve the country.

"I appreciate and acknowledge the democratic and critical work done in Congress. That's how decisions are made, that's how political and democratic life is. We are respectful of the decisions made, and we will be responsible for enforcing the mandate of the people," he said.

After saluting the Ministers of State for the vote of confidence, President Castillo pointed out that the country has a Cabinet at the helm and that is worried about Peru.

"We are respectful of the people's mandate to fight so that our children are no longer begging for education, for a meal, which should be a right," he remarked.

In addition, he indicated that his Government prioritized life and health of Peruvians in the COVID-19 pandemic, and now that there are sufficient vaccine doses, he called on Peruvians to go to vaccination centers to get immunized.

The country's top official told small and micro entrepreneurs that the economy is being revived and informed San Juan de Lurigancho locals that the budget to build a hospital in said district has been ensured.

"I encourage mayors to put districts' big problems on the agenda. Let's consider the most urgent ones, such as providing water to the residents; this is fundamental (…)," he commented.
