Peruvian Prime Minister Violeta Bermudez has urged the population to continue supporting the measures implemented by the Executive Branch, which are aimed at protecting people's lives and health, in addition to avoiding COVID-19 infections.

Within this framework, the high-ranking official indicated that the National Police of Peru and the Armed Forces are strictly monitoring compliance with these measures.

In fact, some people were retained —a power granted by the Constitution that allows law enforcement agents to identify the people who committed any offense during the state of emergency.

"There are measures that restrict freedom, which are supported by the regulatory framework and must be fulfilled with the aim of protecting a higher good that consists of the lives and health of all citizens. To reinforce the measures, we need the support of citizens themselves, and every Peruvian citizen must assume that it is also their responsibility to avoid contagion," she expressed.

Likewise, the high-ranking official called for the support of municipal authorities so that they can control the capacity limit at stores supplying staple products, as well as the entry of people to markets.

"And also to help us control those critical points where some overcrowding occurs, although we hope that it will be lower in the coming days," she concluded.
