Peru's Prime Minister Violeta Bermudez on Monday affirmed that the Government will vaccinate as many people as possible and will secure the procurement of vaccines for all Peruvians during the next administration.

Noting that negotiations with Sinopharm have not stopped, she said one million doses —within a framework agreement for 38 million— have been received from this Chinese laboratory.

"Now we are waiting to complete the process of receiving the necessary documents to contract the remaining 37 million," the Cabinet chief expressed.

Moreover, she reiterated that 48 million doses have been secured as a result of the signed agreements: one million from Sinopharm, 20 million from Pfizer, with batches received in March, 14 million from AstraZeneca, and more than 13 million from COVAX Facility.

These 48 million doses —she said— have been secured, and negotiations have stopped with no one until the greatest number of vaccines has been secured for the population.

"Rest assured that the Transition and Emergency Government will vaccinate as many people as possible in our term and will secure the vaccines to immunize the entire population in the national territory," Bermudez pointed out.

The government official noted that the vaccination effort must involve everyone, and jumping the queue is not appropriate.

"People over 80 are being vaccinated now, while people of other ages will be vaccinated as more vaccines come," she added.
