Prime Minister Alberto Otarola on Thursday announced that the Government will be an active promoter of emblematic projects in Peruvian regions.

The high-ranking official held a press conference, following a session of the Council of Ministers, at the Government Palace in Lima.

Within this framework, the Cabinet chief affirmed that the support and promotion of development projects is a concrete commitment made by the President of the Republic Dina Boluarte.

The Prime Minister pointed out that —two days ago during a Congress plenary session aimed at requesting a confidence vote from lawmakers— the Executive Branch had announced a series of measures to reactivate the economy. He added that they are currently being made viable.

In this sense, the high-ranking official specified that the Council of Ministers earlier today approved extraordinary measures worth S/1.117 billion (about US$295 million) so that they can be injected into the economy of all Peruvians.

The government’s spokesman pointed out that contact has been made with each governor, adding that a series of public works are being executed and projects are being unlocked.

At this point, the Cabinet chief emphasized that development in regions should not be conditioned by political debate or the maximalist agenda of protestors.

The Prime Minister reiterated that, following presidential instruction, work must be carried out with regional governors.

He also reminded citizens that more than S/5.9 billion (over US$1.544 billion) is being injected through the Con Punche Peru program.

"The execution corresponds to regional governments and subnational governments," said Otarola, who indicated that projects are set for Cusco, Puno, and other regions in the southern area of Peru.
