Peruvian Prime Minister Violeta Bermudez has announced that —starting this weekend— vaccination centers will open their doors to the population in addition to the existing ones, in coordination with municipalities.

Joined by Health Minister Oscar Ugarte, the Cabinet chief visited the vaccination center set up at Lima-based Campo de Marte on Sunday.

There, the high-ranking official remarked that these centers will be multiplied progressively as more vaccine doses become available.

It should be noted that the immunization of senior citizens is carried out at 11 large vaccination centers, which host 370 brigades.

Likewise, Executive Branch members were able to verify at the site the improvements made in the care of the elderly during the immunization process.

"Now, we can verify that the necessary adjustments have been made," she said, referring to the fact that —on Saturday— people, who were unable to do so the previous day, attended the vaccination center. This generated a bit of congestion of people at the site.

According to the government's spokesperson, this has already been overcome. She added it will get better every day.

Vaccination days

"In order to prevent people from being confused, every week we will be announcing the vaccination points which will be operational, as well as the vaccination days that we have set. These will be Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays; Mondays and Tuesdays will be for those older adults who, for any reason, could not come during the three days," she expressed.

Bermudez also indicated that citizens, who have not been able to get vaccinated because they are recovering from COVID-19, will be able to do so once they overcome this situation and physicians authorize them to get vaccinated.
