The volume of
non-traditional exports rose 2.5% in February 2019 compared to the same month last year, thus marking 28 months of continuous growth, National Institute of Statistics and Informatics (INEI) informed Friday.
According to INEI's "Evolution of Exports and Imports" Report —which relies on data provided by the National Customs and Tax Administration (Sunat)— this result was underpinned by greater shipments from the
textile (+10.8%) and
fishing (+27.7%) sectors.
Squid, giant squid, and cuttlefish (63.5%), as well as whole frozen shrimp (22.6%) shipments expanded.
However, the volume of agricultural sector's exports decreased (-3.7%).
First two months
The main destination was China, which received 33.8% of the total shipments (+36.4%).
Likewise, exports volume rose 0.3% in February 2019 compared to the same month last year.
The top destinations were China, the United States, Japan, South Korea, and Brazil.
