Peru's gold exports total US$1.283 billion in Jan-Feb 2018

Peruvian gold shipments to the world rose 10% to US$1.283 billion in January-February 2018, from US$1.167 billion in the same period a year earlier, National Society of Mining, Oil, and Energy (SNMPE) reported Tuesday.

The guild said gold exports accounted for 28% of mining shipments, which totaled US$4.586 billion in the first two months of the year.

In February 2018, sales amounted to US$582 million. Major exports destinations were Switzerland, Canada, the United States, India, and the United Kingdom.

Silver

As for silver, exports reached US$20 million in the first two-month period of 2018, up 17.6% over last year (US$17 million).

In February, silver-bearing exports totaled US$8.6 million and were destined to the United States, Brazil, Chile, and Argentina.

Prospects for gold and silver mining in Peru and around the world will be addressed at the 13th International Gold & Silver Symposium due to be held in Lima on May 29-31.
