Peruvian gold shipments to the world rose 10% to US$1.283 billion in January-February 2018, from US$1.167 billion in the same period a year earlier, National Society of Mining, Oil, and Energy (SNMPE) reported Tuesday.
The guild said
gold exports accounted for 28% of mining shipments, which totaled US$4.586 billion in the first two months of the year.
In February 2018, sales amounted to US$582 million. Major exports destinations were Switzerland,
Canada, the United States,
India, and the United Kingdom.
Silver
As for silver, exports reached US$20 million in the first two-month period of 2018, up 17.6% over last year (US$17 million).
In February, silver-bearing exports totaled US$8.6 million and were destined to the United States, Brazil, Chile, and Argentina.
