Peru's gold exports totaled US$694 million in Jan 2018

Peru's gold exports amounted to US$694 million in January 2018, up by 23% over the same month last year (US$565 million), private-run National Society of Mining, Oil, and Energy (SNMPE) informed Wednesday.

The guild said gold shipments account for 29% of overall mineral exports (US$2.37 billion) and 17% of the total sales registered last January.

Likewise, the top export destinations were Switzerland, Canada, the United States, India and the United Kingdom.

Silver exports

In the analyzed month, refined silver shipments reached US$11 million, a 43.4% increase compared to the same period in 2017(US$8 million).

Finally, SNMPE noted the future of gold and silver mining —both at national and international levels— will be addressed at the 13th International Gold & Silver Symposium
