Peru: Worshippers take part in Lord of Miracles procession on Good Friday

10:06 | Lima, Apr. 19.

Joined by a large number of Catholic believers, the image of Lord of Miracles is carried through the streets of Lima towards the Cathedral, as part of the religious activities on the occasion of Holy Week.

As is customary, the image of the Christ of Pachacamilla left Las Nazarenas Sanctuary at 6:30 AM to be taken in procession through Tacna Avenue and Huancavelica Street before reaching Lima's main square, where the Cathedral is situated.

The painting of the so-called 'dark-skinned' Christ is set to reach its destination at 10:30 AM.

Once there, it will be placed at the main altar to join the Good Friday Three Hour Service, scheduled for noon.

At 3:30 PM, the Lord of Miracles will participate in the Passion of Christ ceremony.

After that, at 5:00 PM, the revered Catholic religious icon will start its return journey to Las Nazarenas, where it is normally kept.

Joined by streams of worshippers dressed in purple robes, the heavy replica has been carried through the capital's streets on this day for years.
