Peru: Faithful join Lord of Miracles procession on Good Friday

10:03 | Lima, Mar. 30.

Peruvians pay homage to revered Catholic religious icon, the Lord of Miracles, in a major procession through downtown Lima on Good Friday.

Followed by devoted pilgrims, the sacred image left its home Las Nazarenas Church at 6:00 AM as part of Holy Week celebrations in the capital.

The image was taken through the main streets of the city before reaching Lima's Cathedral for the three-hour Seven Last Words Sermon.

Later, at around 8:45 PM, the Lord of Miracles will return to Las Nazarenas, where it is normally kept. This will occur following a Passion of Christ performance at Lima's Main Square, where the Cathedral is located.

It must be noted the Christ of Pachacamilla has been walked through the capital's streets on this day for years.
