| Lima, Mar. 7.
The vaccination of Peruvian senior citizens against COVID-19 will begin tomorrow, starting with citizens affiliated to the Social Health Insurance System's (EsSalud) Home Care Program (Padomi)
, Prime Minister Violeta Bermudez has informed.
The high-ranking official stressed that it is not necessary to make any appointment or to go to a certain location to enroll, since EsSalud staff will notify Padomi members before vaccinating them at home.
In this sense, the Cabinet member pointed out that the
Pfizer vaccine will be administered for the first time in Peru. Therefore, she said it is important to consider that this vaccine is complex, logistically speaking.
"On Monday, we will begin to vaccinate members of the Armed Forces and National Police, along with EsSalud's Padomi elders," Bermudez expressed during a press conference last Saturday.
Likewise, the Cabinet chief mentioned that
50,000 doses from Pfizer have arrived in the country to date
. Thus, the vaccine will be administered in the Lima districts reporting the highest COVID-19 infection levels.
Tuesday
Furthermore, the Prime Minister stated that
EsSalud will inform its affiliates —on March 9— where the vaccination centers are located so other senior citizens can go there for immunization purposes.
