Peruvian President Martin Vizcarra on Tuesday affirmed that after the issuance of the urgency decree that regulates the provision of the Universal Family Bonus —equivalent to S/760 (about US$223)— more than 6.8 million vulnerable households will be reached all over the country, to help them face the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The
Urgency Decree No. 052-2020 was published today in
El Peruano official gazette. It lays down "extraordinary measures to reduce the negative impact on the economy of households affected by the measures of social isolation and compulsory social immobilization at the national level," Mr. Vizcarra stated.
Likewise, the Head of State urged the population to avoid crowds at bank branches as they get paid the different bonuses granted by the Government.
"This is creating larger crowds at some bank branches, but we have to use these spaces responsibly so as not to turn them into sites of contagion," the top official emphasized.
Initially set to last from March 16 to 30, the measure was extended thru May 10.
On this occasion, the President was joined by some members of the Council of Ministers. The event was held at the command post of the Peruvian Air Force in Lima.
Tuesday marks the fifty-first day of mandatory social isolation.
