Peru: Two drug laboratories destroyed, 1,025 kg of seized chemicals incinerated

Peru's National Police (PNP) destroyed two drug laboratories and incinerated 1,025 kg of chemicals as part of an anti-drug operation held in the Valley of the Apurimac, Ene, and Mantaro rivers (VRAEM).


VRAEM-based agents headed to San Agustin population center in Santa Rosa district of La Mar province (Ayacucho region) thanks to data provided by specialized intelligence units.

This raid included the participation of Palmapampa's provincial deputy prosecutor specialized in drug trafficking.

Two rustic laboratories were found at the site. The labs contained coca leaf maceration pits and settling tanks for the production of cocaine.

About 1,025 kg of chemicals were found in the area, including gas and lime, as well as 6,900 kg of coca leaves in maceration stage.


The in-situ incineration of chemicals and utensils used to process drugs was conducted in accordance with existing legal provisions, safeguarding the area's environment and ecology at all times.
