Peru: Over 16,500 ha of coca eradicated in Feb-Jul 2018

Peruvian Interior Ministry's Special Project for Control and Reduction of Illegal Crops in Alto Huallaga (CORAH) has eradicated 16,501.27 hectares of coca crops in San Martin, Huanuco, Pasco, and Ucayali regions

Anti-drug operations were conducted from February 1 to July 22 within the framework of the 2018 Annual Plan for Reduction of Illegal Coca Growing Area —under the National Strategy to Fight Drugs 2017-2021.

In this sense, CORAH agents eradicated 6,979.85 ha in Oxapampa (Pasco), 6,143.85 ha in Tocache (San Martin), 2,094.43 ha in Puerto Inca (Huánuco), and 1,283.14 in Padre Abad (Ucayali).

Furthermore, the institution razed 46 clandestine cocaine laboratories located in Oxapampa (32), Puerto Inca (8), Padre Abad (4), and Tocache (2).

CORAH also reported the destruction of 7,903 square meters of seedlings that had been meant to expand coca crops.

It must be noted these raids are supported by the National Anti-Drug Agency (Dirandro) and the Police Aviation Department.
