The Organization of American States (OAS) approved by acclamation that Peru host its General Assembly in 2022, the Foreign Affairs Ministry reported on Tuesday.

OAS member states appreciated the offer made by President Pedro Castillo's administration, which reaffirms the South American country's commitment to multilateralism and foreign policy.

Within this framework, Foreign Affairs Minister Oscar Maurtua announced that the Government will undertake "the best efforts to ensure a successful organization," adding that Peru will receive guests with open arms.

Following the approval of the corresponding resolution, Peru's Permanent Representative to OAS, Harold Forsyth, thanked all member states for the trust placed in our country.

Moreover, the diplomat invited them to enjoy the "intense affection that the Peruvian people will lavish on them in the shared effort to put people's real demands at the center of deliberations."
