Peru: Supreme Judge Javier Arevalo assumes Judicial Branch Presidency

Supreme Judge Javier Arevalo Vela on Tuesday assumed the Chairmanship of the Supreme Court of Justice and the Judicial Branch for the 2023-2024 period.

The inauguration ceremony took place at the Manuel de Vidaurre Hall of the Palace of Justice in Lima.

The event coincided with the Opening of the Judicial Year 2023, to which authorities of the main State institutions were invited.

Judiciary Chair

Javier Arevalo Vela was elected as the new Chair of the Judiciary, overcoming his colleagues Hector Lama More and Carlos Arias Lazarte.


The election of the Judiciary Chair is held on the first Thursday of December, every two years.
