The
President of the Republic Dina Boluarte on Tuesday took part in the ceremony marking the Opening of the Judicial Year 2023 and the inauguration of Javier Arevalo Vela as head of the Supreme Court of Justice and the
Judicial Branch for the 2023-2024 period.
The event was held at the Palace of Justice in the Peruvian capital, Lima.
The judicial year began with the opening ceremony, which included a solemn session with the participation of the highest authorities of the Judicial Branch and the main authorities of the State institutions.
The opening of the year 2023 was chaired by the new Chair of the Judiciary, Javier Arevalo Vela.
Javier Arevalo Vela was elected as the new Chair of the Judiciary, overcoming his colleagues Hector Lama More and Carlos Arias Lazarte.
The election of the Judiciary Chair is held on the first Thursday of December, every two years.
