Economy and Finance Minister Maria Antonieta Alva affirmed that the Peruvian Government has strengthened
the policy to combat tax evasion and avoidance which, in turn, will help fight corruption.
The minister noted that while fighting the COVID-19 pandemic is a priority, the Government has also worked on a long-term agenda to strengthen the fiscal and tax policy.
In this way, she said, information about the people behind the principal assets, business and financial arrangements, as well as economic operations here in Peru and abroad will be available through the automatic exchange of information with other countries.
"There are companies that —although required to pay taxes— use legal mechanisms and complex business structures to avoid fulfilling their tax obligations in their countries, and it is my administration's duty to work towards making it stop," the high-ranking official pointed out.
The Final Beneficiary Registry stands out among the regulations implemented. It contains information on the owners of companies, entities, assets, financial accounts, trusts and investment funds that produce economic activity in Peru, as well as the properties and financial resources of Peruvians around the world.
