Mobile teams from the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) will join local and regional governments to accelerate their economic reactivation process, the sector's head Maria Antonieta Alva affirmed on Monday.

"We are going to work harder so that MEF mobile teams travel to the most remote places in the country," she expressed during an interpellation session at Congress headquarters.

This way, she said, ministry officials are working on the new recruitment of technicians, who not only monitor the works but also develop tools and join various local authorities to achieve their goals.

"I have decided to increase the itinerant specialized team in regions by 100 people, focusing urgently on the poorest districts of the country, which have the widest gaps," she expressed.

The Cabinet member also stressed that the decentralization of technical assistance should be a priority.

"This is how we assume it, and that is why I promise to continue traveling around the country with my most specialized technical team to focus and solve the most urgent problems," she said.

Progress

The minister stressed that last August —despite the extraordinary conditions that have hindered the development of investments— regional governments exceeded their execution by 8% compared to the amount registered in the same period last year.

Concerning technical assistance for local governments, Alva said 151 municipalities in the country were prioritized, through which 351 prioritized investment projects were served.
