A second batch of Sinopharm vaccines arrived at Alejandro Velasco Astete Airport in the city of Cusco on Thursday to continue with the immunization of health personnel, who are on the frontline in the fight against COVID-19 across the southern Peruvian region.

A total of eight boxes consisting of 6,481 vaccine doses arrived in the area.

Immediately, these were transferred to the warehouses of Cusco's Regional Health Management Office (Geresa) from where they will be distributed to hospitals and healthcare establishments in this jurisdiction.

Geresa's Health Director Tania Saldivar reported that they are completing the use of the total doses from the first batch.

Afterwards, the second batch will serve to immunize the entire health staff from Intensive Care Units (ICUs) at hospitals and COVID-19 rooms.

"Vaccination groups, administrative and executing areas are prioritized. However, clinic personnel are not yet considered," she indicated.

Finally, it was reported that the distribution will be carried out under strict security measures enforced by the National Police and the Comptroller General's Office.
