The President of the Republic, Jose Jeri, stated on Thursday that respect and love for the national symbols must be cultivated, while leading the flag-raising ceremony at the Meliton Carvajal Educational Institution in Lima's Lince district.

"It is always important not only to look at the present but also at the future, which is unquestionably connected to you. We must invest in your education, and we must cultivate respect and love for our national symbols," he indicated.

The Head of State said that, even if some do not share this view, it is important for the government to visit schools.

He added that this is especially meaningful at the start of classes, when students sing the national anthem or carry out similar activities.

To the pupils lined up for this activity, the top official mentioned that he had visited their school to cast his vote in some elections.

Similarly, Jeri said he was very pleased to visit them for this occasion.

"Now I am with you, sharing a few minutes that we have borrowed from your day and from your exams; my apologies for changing the planned schedules, but this is part of the commitment we have as a government to the youth, which is reflected in this type of supportive activity," he expressed.

The President arrived at this school to take part in the flag-raising and national anthem singing, as part of the government's actions to strengthen national identity.
