14:00 | Lima, Feb. 2.

Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Ignacio Higueras on Thursday reaffirmed Peru's commitment to the business sector of countries belonging to the Pacific Alliance, with the aim of reinvigorating public-private articulation in the region.

In this regard, the diplomat highlighted the role played by the private sector in strengthening the commercial actions undertaken within the Pacific Alliance.

Remarks were made during the ceremony marking the handover of the Pro-Tempore Presidency of the aforementioned regional bloc's Business Council.

Background

The Pacific Alliance constitutes a regional integration mechanism made up of Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru, through which it seeks to progressively advance towards the free circulation of goods, services, capital, and people.

This is part of a strategy to become a platform for projection to the world, with emphasis on the Asia-Pacific region.

The Pro-Tempore Presidency of the Pacific Alliance Business Council has been assumed by the Lima Chamber of Commerce.

Previously, the Association of Peruvian Exporters was in charge of it.
