01:00 | Lima, Oct. 17.

The Third Supra-Provincial Prosecutor's Office Specializing in Human Rights and Anti-Terrorism has launched a preliminary investigation against those responsible for aggravated homicide in the case of 32-year-old Eduardo Ruiz.

The citizen died after being shot in the thorax during the protests held in downtown Lima on October 15.

Among the measures ordered by Provincial Prosecutor Roger Yana Yanqui, the Lima Police Region was requested to submit operational plans, phone orders, and documents to clarify the command structures, zoning, personnel deployment, plus other details regarding police actions during the marches.

Likewise, reports were requested from the police divisions that intervened in the demonstrations, along with a list of personnel who were on duty in the zones of activity.

The prosecutor in charge of the case requested Eduardo Ruiz's recent medical records and the presence of a forensic digital analysis expert to extract footage from the area's surveillance cameras in order to trace the victim's route.

The Prosecutor's Office has already carried out the procedures to retrieve the body at Arzobispo Loayza Hospital in Lima.

It also continues collecting audiovisual and ballistic evidence in the vicinity of Plaza Francia, where the incident occurred, among other prosecutorial actions.
