Lava Jato Case Special Prosecution Group member Jose Domingo Perez has requested the Judicial Branch to deny presidential candidate Keiko Fujimori's petition to travel abroad, following an invitation made by writer Mario Vargas Llosa for her to attend a coming forum in Quito (Ecuador).

In his request, the prosecutor reminded the Judiciary that Fujimori has been accused, since March 11, of the alleged commission of organized crime, money laundering, obstruction of justice, and false statements.

Because of these accusations, it has been requested that she be imposed 30 years and 10 months of imprisonment, as well as the precautionary measure preventing her from leaving Peruvian territory.

Likewise, he specified that 45-year-old Fujimori has the obligation not to leave the city of Lima, where she resides, or change her address without the written authorization of judicial authorities.

Under this premise, the Prosecutor's Office believes there is an underlying risk of flight if she is authorized to leave the country.

Although the candidate has previously been authorized to travel within the national territory, the request to leave the country is different, the petition said.

In addition, it is unknown if among the participants of the event —in which Fujimori would participate— are co-defendants and/or witnesses, adding there is no way to ensure that she will not communicate with any of them.
