12:14 | Washington D.C. (U.S.), Jul. 23.

Peruvian Prosecutor Jose Domingo Perez was included in Latin America's Top 5 Anti-Corruption Figures, published by America's Quarterly (AQ).

According to the magazine, the prosecutor's legal pursuit of ex-Peruvian Presidents has gained him celebrity status in the South American country.

In this sense, America's Quarterly underlines the anti-corruption movement has shown that innovation and plenty of persistence are required in order to tackle impunity.

As is known, Perez is a member of the Lava Jato Case Special Prosecution Group and is in charge of the investigations on former Presidents Pedro Pablo Kuczynski and Alejandro Toledo, Fuerza Popular political party leader Keiko Fujimori, as well as the Lima Metro case, which included deceased ex-President Alan Garcia, among others.

The publication also praised Ecuador's Attorney General Diana Salazar, former head of the Organization of American States' anti-corruption mission in Honduras Luiz Antonio Marrey, Mexican journalist Nayeli Roldan, and Transparencia Venezuela Head Mercedes de Freitas.

"Together, this diverse group shows the strength of Latin America's anti-corruption fight, even in the face of formidable obstacles," it added.
