Energy and Mines Minister Oscar Vera on Tuesday affirmed that the Peruvian delegation at PDAC 2023 —a mineral exploration and mining convention that takes place from March 5 to 8 in the city of Toronto (Canada)— is promoting the country's huge mining potential and investment opportunities.
"We have had the opportunity to inform about the huge mining potential of Peru, about minerals, deposits and investment opportunities," he said in statements to TV Peru Noticias.
This year, precisely on Tuesday, the country held
Peru Day at PDAC 2023, highlighting the fact that it is the leading producer of tin and lead in the Americas, the second-largest producer of copper and zinc in the world, as well as the second-largest producer of silver, gold, and molybdenum in Latin America.
"This event that is progress, called PDAC 2023, is the most important convention hosting miners and investors from all over the world," the minister stated.
Vera reiterated that Peru has a portfolio of mining projects worth about US$53 billion, which is expected to create jobs for many Peruvians.
"We seek to attract investors to exploit minerals within a framework of social and environmental harmony," he remarked.
The government official noted that most mining operations in Peru are running normally, bearing in mind that mining centers are distributed in various regions.
