Peru: Prime Minister meets with Congress Chairman

New Prime Minister Walter Martos met with Congress Chairman Manuel Merino at Parliament headquarters in Lima on Friday.

At the event, it was agreed that the recently sworn-in Cabinet will appear before lawmakers on August 11 to present the government's guidelines and request the confidence vote.

As is known, Congress on Tuesday rejected the vote of confidence requested by the former Council of Ministers led by Pedro Cateriano. Thus, President Vizcarra announced a Cabinet reshuffle.

On Thursday, the Head of State administered the oath of office to members of a reshuffled Cabinet led by Prime Minister Martos.

Within this framework, the top official affirmed that it is time for unity and consensus, to put aside division and differences, and instead continue working for the well-being of all citizens.
