Peru President: We must make efforts to use early treatment against COVID-19

15:32 | Lima, Jun. 16.

President Martin Vizcarra on Tuesday affirmed that Peru's health system must make efforts to provide early treatment to people infected with the new coronavirus and prevent them from arriving at hospitals while in delicate state of health.

On the occasion, the Head of State received a donation from the National Confederation of Private Business Institutions (Confiep), which was composed of 90 mechanical ventilators to reinforce public health services.

During his speech, the top official stressed that the availability of medical devices —such as mechanical ventilators around the world— has been reduced due to the great demand from countries affected by the pandemic.

He indicated that this new batch of mechanical ventilators —donated by Confiep— will be immediately distributed to the regions that need them most.

The items are added to the 10 that were delivered a few days ago and acquired from China through the Confiep Emergency Fund. It was supported by the solidary contribution from more than 120 companies, business guilds, and businesspeople committed to supporting the South American country in the fight against COVID-19.
