President Martin Vizcarra on Friday thanked Peruvians for their efforts and sacrifices to comply with the measures adopted by the Government in order to contain the
spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, a behavior that —he underlined— helps save many lives.
The Head of State said that this reflection over the responsible behavior of Peruvians becomes relevant on Good Friday, the day when Christians commemorate the death of Jesus Christ, who gave his life to save humankind.
"How could we not consider this reflection if we are requesting the same effort and sacrifice to all Peruvians, whose support can help us save many lives, and there is no need to give your life to save that of our fellow citizens. We just ask you to stay home," he expressed.
The top official remarked that responsible actions, commitment, and the solidarity of citizens —to stay home and go out as little as possible, only if urgent and needed—can save lives.
On this occasion, the President was joined by Ministers Walter Martos (Defense) and Victor Zamora (Health), as well as by Congress Chairman Manuel Merino.
Friday marks the twenty-six day of mandatory social isolation.
