Peru President: Toledo will face justice before end of term

10:16 | Lima, Nov. 8.

President Martin Vizcarra on Thursday affirmed former Head of State Alejandro Toledo (2001-2006) will face justice in the Inca country before his term in office ends in 2021.

In this sense, the top official indicated his administration is closely following up on the extradition process through the Justice, as well as Foreign Affairs Ministries.

However, it depends on the United States' time frames. It should be noted Toledo is believed to be in the North American nation.

"Panama's ex-President (Ricardo Martinelli) was extradited from the United States after three years. We want it to be in less time. Before I end my term in office, ex-President Toledo will be here facing justice. That is a promise," the statesman told Santa Rosa Radio.

As is known, Toledo is accused of crimes of influence peddling, collusion, proper passive bribery, and money laundering.

Said transaction was made when Toledo was President of Peru (2001-2006).

Peru has requested an extradition for him to face the Inca country's justice system.
